Picture from Norway,  Reine, Lofoten

One look at the map of Norway and you know immediately what the biggest attraction of the country is. The wierdly shaped coast line, with its mainy deep fjords. At that Norway has stunning mountains, and many historic towns dating back to the times of the Vikings.

If you are into the outdoor, Norway is certainly a good destination. Hiking is better than anywhere else.

Norway is in Northwest Europe and has an area of 323.759 square kilometers, with nearly 4,5 million inhabitants. It has a coastline of 21,925 kilometers, with many islands, long fjords and numerous indentations. The capital of Norway is Oslo, attractively situated at the end of the Oslofjord, with half a million inhabitants. Norway is a very mountainous country, with the highest peaks: Glittertind (2470 m.), the Galdhøppigen (2400) in the center, and the Stortsteinfjellet in the North.Norway is a very good holiday destination in summer and in winter. Walking is a favorite sport in summer, where small huts are situated at easy reachable intervals, although the distance from the sout to the Northcape (2000 kilometers) is an exceedingly rough task (if you got the time). In winter the country is ideal for skiing (langlaufen).

But this country where nature is the biggest attraction, has a few very beautiful cities as well. Oslo, Bergen and Trondheim date back 1000 years and have many monuments to prove it. Tromso the northernmost city of the country is pretty as well and an ideal base for exploring the Arctic region.

If you want even more adventure, you should head for the North Cape or even Spitsbergen. Both offer unparalleled beauty in an Arctic surrounding.
